Our invitation was accepted by Tomáš Raichl, custodian of the Terezín Memorial's depositories. His lecture will cover art created in the ghetto, including the work of created for the official SS Terezin Commandery. He will present expressively works depicting real life and suffering in this place, documentary and souvenir artworks by professional artists and amateurs, portraits and artworks and decorative objects designed and created in local workshops. It introduces the most important ghetto painters with highlighting the work and life of Brno painter Otto Ungar and František Kien's ties to South Moravia, specifically to Bzenec. He does not forget the so-called. the affair of the Terezin painters, i.e. the exposure of artists depicting the real life in the ghetto by SS commandos and their arrest for "propaganda of terror" and other fates. The lecture will be given in the exhibition of Gisela's drawings Rottonar, a woman who was taken to Terezín in 1942 and after seven months there, she succumbed to the effects of typhus. Admission is voluntary.
