Stories of Humanity (The Righteous Among the Nations in Moravia)

An evening dedicated to the theme „Czechs Righteous Among the Nations“ will present the stories of rescuers and rescued who have been awarded the title Righteous Among the Nations. Attention will be paid in particular to the Moravian region, which is also represented in this regard. Worldwide, more than 28,000 people have been honoured with this title. The project aims to systematically map the fate of more than 120 rescued persons, their families and especially the rescuers themselves, based on archival research in Czech and foreign sources. In addition to the more well-known personalities such as Antonín Kalina, PhDr. Martin Hemelík will also present lesser-known stories that expand our knowledge of specific manifestations of civic courage, solidarity and moral responsibility during the Nazi persecution.
